Expand your knowledge of Hualalai by embarking on a Huaka’i, or journey. This app allows you to take a historical, cultural, and sustainable journey throughout the property of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.

Learn how ancient Polynesians traveled across the ocean in canoes in search of a new life. Learn about the plants that they brought with them in order to sustain life on the uninhabited islands. Learn about the many uses of the historic ponds, and how the Hawaiians were stewards of the land. Learn what is being done today to care and protect these ponds, and how they are providing a habitat for an endangered species. Learn about the art and historic artifacts displayed throughout the property. Finally, learn about the initiative to reforest Hawai’i Island, and other sustainable practices of Four Seasons and Hualalai Resort.

This app was designed to function in many ways. First, you may explore the entire resort on a narrated tour. Beginning at the front drive and ending at the lobby, our very own “Uncle” Earl guides you throughout the property, highlighting historical, sustainable, and cultural points of interest.

You may also choose to stroll through the property at your leisure. Use the map to pinpoint your location, and simply find the closest point of interest to learn more. Signs throughout the property will also alert you to a significant site.

If you prefer, you can take a virtual tour from your home thousands of miles away, or the comfort of your lounge chair by the pool. The pictures will give you an idea of what you may see if you were at the site.

Finally, the Huaka’i can also be used simply as a way-finding map. Click ‘map only’ and find your way to the Spa, Lobby, guest room, or anywhere else throughout the property.

This application uses background GPS for location notifications, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
