The Stop and Think Farm app teaches children how to use a Five-Step Model of Problem Solving in order to find solutions for everyday social problems. It encourages kids to “stop and think” before they act rather than to be impulsive.
The child and parent play the game together and are hosted on this virtual island by a savvy parrot named Pepi. Detective Dog is a trusty southern hound dog who teaches the Five-Step Model and reminds the kids to “pause for success”. The Player gains practice at solving over 44 social scenarios on the farm and then is able to use this model to solve personal problems at home or at school.
The Player advances through five chapters, earning points and tokens in a personalized treasure chest. A game board with a moving turtle keeps track of the Player’s progress. The Player responds to questions by typing or saying answers through Siri (voice to text). Pepi and Detective Dog award the Player a Problem Buster Badge at the end of this exciting and educational adventure!
The discussion stimulated through game play serves as a catalyst for social-emotional learning, values clarification, and bonding between the child and parent.
Up to four players can use the app with individualized scoring.
Tablet sound should be turned on to benefit from multi-media content.
