LightChooser™

While bright light is important for functional vision, it is challenging to measure and prescribe. LightChooser provides recommendations for light fixtures or bulbs, based on measurements of a patient’s optimum light intensity and color using the LuxIQ™ Diagnostic Tool. This provides clinicians and practitioners a standard, calibrated method to measure and prescribe lighting to improve a patients’ near acuity and comfort.

It enables lighting assessments and recommendations in exam rooms, home, school, business, or research labs.

To activate your copy of LightChooser and add your practice or institution logo to the display and patient reports, press the FIRST TIME USER button on the log-on screen and follow the instructions. We will send you a log-on by return e-mail.


A SCIENTIFIC BASIS TO DISCUSS LIGHTING WITH PATIENTS AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS

With LightChooser™, you enter the optimum light intensity (in lux), color temperature (in °K), and the intended use. It recommends generic, commercially available task lighting and bulbs, eliminating trial and error in deciding what bulb or lamp to select.

The task lighting lamp database is cloud-based and constantly updated, so your software is always up-to-date with the latest list of lamps. The output of each lamp has been independently measured. The app computes the exact distance between the lamp and the work surface for the correct illuminance.

LightChooser is designed for use with the LuxIQ™ diagnostic system from Jasper Ridge. The app converts the LuxIQ measurement of optimum illuminance and color temperature into a list of task lighting recommendations, and generates reports to give to the patient. This provides an optimum task lighting solution without guesswork or time-consuming searches of stores and on-line catalogs.

To assess reading performance, just place the LuxIQ over reading material, such as eye charts and newspapers. Use LightChooser to convert the patient’s LuxIQ measurements to prescriptions or recommendations.
