Listening to the Heart

The "Listening to the Heart" app is a comprehensive guide for learning cardiac auscultation (i.e. using a stethoscope) and is intended for the medical professional, paraprofessional or student.

Containing over 90 mini-lectures, with over 125 examples of actual heart sounds, defects and murmurs - along with illustrations and explanations - "Listening to the Heart" was developed by the late Dr. Daniel Mason (over a career spanning more than 50 years) to teach thousands of medical students, nurses and professionals how to use a stethoscope, and how to use it more effectively to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

With "Listening to the Heart" you can learn how to recognize heart defects more accurately, quickly and inexpensively, and improve your auscultation and diagnostic skills - right from your iPhone.

Also included is a unique acoustic analysis module that lets you record your own heart sounds - using your iPhone as a stethoscope - and compare them to the built-in library of exemplars collected by Dr. Mason.

The app also includes an on-board skills assessment called "What is your Diagnosis?” where you can test your ability to recognize heart sounds and defects correctly.
