In this app, the 1st in their series, Miguel Monteiro and Marlene Almeida will teach you all the vital basic steps and body movements so that you will be confident to take to the dance floor whenever Kizomba is played.
Background:
Kizomba is both a musical genre and a dance style. Kizomba as a dance existed in one form or another for a long time before it came to be called “Kizomba” and many of the steps and movements that define Kizomba evolved out of other African dances. It’s a relatively new musical genre that started in the late 1970s and 1980s and evolved out of a combination of African rhythms, traditional Angolan Semba music, fused with Zouk (also a popular musical genre in French speaking countries in Africa, and originally from the French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique).
Kizomba is very rapidly becoming a worldwide dance phenomenon capturing the interest and passion of dancers everywhere due to the close connection and leading and following experience that makes this dance so unique.
Features:
Detailed instruction with music and partner work examples
Fast streamed clips
Works with iPhone, iPod Touch
Note: new version coming soon with higher quality video and some additional combinations.
About Miguel Monteiro:
Originally from Portugal, Miguel grew up in Lisbon where he started to develop an interest for Afro Cuban style dance. At the age of 13 he found his talent and started taking his hobby more seriously. He started by learning contemporary jazz, Latin rhythm and Salsa and later moved onto more sensual styles such as Kizomba. Miguel teaches various styles over the world including LA Cross Body on 1, New York Mambo on 2, Puerto Rican style, Cuban style, Cha cha cha, Bachata and Kizomba. Miguel has taught and currently teaches for many of the major promoters in the UK and Europe.
About Marlene Almeida:
Originally from Portugal, Marlene has been involved in salsa, hip hop and belly dancing as well as Kizomba. Marlene has been dancing Kizomba for the last 8 years and has been partnering with Miguel for the last 3 years, teaching dancing and performing show. Marlene spends most of her time teaching Kizomba as well as being a gym (fitness instructor). She specialises in ladies body movement and styling and provides specialised workshops for ladies that want to improve their own styling and movement. Miguel and Marlene have performed at different congresses and events all over the UK and in Europe including Mambo City, Latin Motion and Salsa Explosion.
