Issue 06 already? Yep, and it’s from strength-to-strength we go as we stare wide-eyed at the world, and ask questions of both it and us. What’s it all about? Death, life, failure, success… it’s all here. We hope you like.
Description
New and exclusive work by the members of the POOL collective, including an interview with notorious artist David Cerny and look at Simon Harsent’s recent exhibition, The Beautiful Game.
Pool Collective 06 includes:
Requiem:
Danny Eastwood’s poignant study of life and death.
The Road Not Taken:
Simon Harsent presents a spontaneous, yet thoughtful look at issues of choice and determinism.
Augmentation:
The stark look at surgical procedure – of choices made, decisions taken and prices fixed from Juliet Taylor, who also, in her motion study Induction, focuses on the blurred edges and surrendered control as patients succumb to anaesthesia.
The Melbourne Cup:
Ingvar Kenne looks at the winners and losers in Australia’s most famous race, while a searing accompanying piece by Adam Rivett walks us through a typical race day.
David Cerny – L’enfant Terrible:
Juliet Taylor travels to Prague to meet the artist who amuses, confronts and upsets in equal measure.
Montevideo:
A surreptitious study of daily life playing out against unfamiliar backdrops sees Sean Izzard completely at home in unfamiliar territory.
The Beautiful Game:
As the great and the good gathered for Simon Harsent’s opening night, we caught all the action. Plus, a sneak peek at the collection’s progression and an interview with Simon about possibly his most defining work to date.
