Mobile Smalltalk

Mobile Smalltalk is a Smalltalk programming environment designed specifically for use in Apple iPad tablets.

The Smalltalk language was invented in the 1970's at the Palo Alto Research Center with the intention of making programming more intuitive and accessible to students.

Smalltalk is based on a model of Objects sending messages to other objects. It has influenced the design of many other "object-oriented" language and its innovative user interface (the first to use a mouse and windows) was a major inspiration for the first Macintosh computer.

This application contains a help system to assists beginners with creating their first programs. Subjects are arranged from neophyte to advanced.

A built-in browser lets the user explore the Smalltalk class hierarchy to see how many methods are implemented.

There are several samples included with explanations of the concepts that they demonstrate.
1) Print the squares of a sequence of numbers
2) Same as above but with formatted text output
3) Generate Pascal's triangle
4) A sequence of circles growing larger
5) Small circles arranged in a circle introducing Pi, sin, cos
6) Same as above but modifying values to create a spiral
7) Using random numbers to color a ring of circles
8) Generate random lines of random colors.
9) Create large styled text.
10) Generate text rotated in a circle.
11) Draw a simple man using lines and circles.

The program output area has two panels:
-- a "Transcript" for text output
-- a "Canvas" for graphic output

The Canvas area also allows for finger-painting at any time.
