Office – The History
- OFFICE was born in 1981 in London with a concession in the shopping Mecca Hyper Hyper
- Due to public demand we opened our first stand alone OFFICE store on the Kings Road in 1984 and continued to grow throughout the eighties and acquired many stores in some of the most prestigious shopping areas in central London
- 1996 saw the arrival of OFFSPRING which was OFFICE's new little sports brother! This was a pioneering new concept devoted to revolutionising the world of fashion sports retailing. OFFSPRING proved to be a hit and opened further stores in Camden and Brighton. OFFSPRING then landed in Selfridges and now has concessions in all four nationwide stores (London, Birmingham, Manchester and Trafford Centre), including a women's only store in Selfridges London.
- In 2000 Poste (a designer men’s boutique) was founded, offering a selection of designer men's shoes in an environment typical of a gentlemen's club. Now a destination store for exclusive designer men’s shoes, we have concessions within Harvey Nichols nationwide
- 2001 we saw the arrival of Poste Mistress and this soon became the essential ladies footwear boutique in the Über cool Neal's yard Covent Garden.
- In 2003, the private company was purchased by Tom Hunter of the West Coast Capital Group.
- In 2004-2010, saw the first of our overseas expansion into the Ireland and we have been growing ever since!
- 2010 OFFICE is bought by Silverfleet Capital.
- 2012 we opened an OFFICE concession in the world famous Selfridges shoe lounge which boasts the largest shoe lounge in Europe!
- 2012 Alan Leighton becomes Chairman for OFFICE his previous appointments includes CEO of ASDA, Chairman Royal Mail and most recently Deputy Chairman for Selfridges & Co.
- OFFICE currently has 137 sites consisting of 86 stand alone, 4 OFFSPRING stores and 51 concessions in SELFRIDGES, TOPSHOP, House of Fraser & Harvey Nichols- plus concessions in New York City, Las Vegas and most recently LA.
