An app for the daily text game!

- What is “Daily Text With Your Friends”?

It is a game app developed to help encourage a regular and interactive consideration of the daily text with a close circle of your friends. The “daily text” that the game is based on is the Examining the Scriptures Daily publication that can be downloaded free of charge at www.JW.org.

- Why was “Daily Text With Your Friends” developed?

We don’t know who to give credit for the emergence of the game, but noticing its viral appeal among the friends, we decided to make an app that would make playing the game way easier.

- What is the game we are talking about?

There are no official rules by any means but the basics are as follows: You read the daily text then send a group text message to several of your friends using only 3 words. The 3 words are your summary comment on that day’s text. In turn, your friends, when they receive the text message are prompted to likewise read the daily text and respond with their 3 word comment on the text.

Many of us miss the interactive consideration of the daily text at our meeting’s for field service and have struggled to maintain a routine of considering the daily text regularly. Thus the collective ingenuity of the friends came up with an informal “game” to make reading the daily text both regular and encouraging as described above.

The game app “Daily Text With Your Friends” is a tool that makes playing the daily text game considerably easier and much more interactive.

- Is there any use of copyrighted material or any other concerns with playing the game?

The game does not contain any copyrighted material and relies on the user to have their own copy of the daily text that can be downloaded free of charge at www.jw.org. As with any social network type game or website you should use caution with who you invite to be your friend and limit your gaming with people you actually know in person.

For privacy reasons we don’t ask users to provide their actual name but only require a working email address and a user created screen name. You can also add friends who you specifically know their email address or screen name in the game.

- How is “Daily Text With Your Friends” funded?

There are ongoing development, game updates, debugging and maintenance costs associated with game hosting and database hosting. The game app utilizes advertisements to cover those costs as well as a small initial purchase price.

- What if somebody abuses the game?

- You can also allow the app to send you Apple Push Notifications when a friend invites you to a game or someone comments on a game you are participating in.
