The common origin of Portuguese and Spanish has led lexicographers to offer historical or etymological solutions on other dictionaries previously published. But in spite of a high percentage of lexical similarities, the use of the vocabulary is very different in each language and this is what Diccionario VOX Esencial Português-Espanhol & Español-Portugués comes to resolve. Thank you to the criteria that has been used to create this dictionary, the different meanings of the 40.000 headwords that are included are ordered according to their frequency of use and a semantic tool helps you choosing the most appropriate translation for each context.

Diccionario VOX Esencial Português-Espanhol & Español-Portugués was the first bilingual dictionary adapted to the Portuguese Acordo Ortográfico that was applied gradually in all the Portuguese speaking countries from 2008. Due to the long transition period of 6 years, this dictionary also includes the previous spelling of the words that are affected by the new spelling rules.
