The Konark temple was said to be built by the Ganga king, Narasimha Deva I, a sun devotee. While some say that he built the temple in order to commemorate his victories in battle, others say that it was to thank the sun god for granting him an heir. The theories are endless, and the stories about Konark are frequently, a mix of fact and fiction.
This Amar Chitra Katha revisits some of the stories about the sun god from Indian mythology, weaving them with the folklore around Konark, while taking the reader through the different parts of the temple.
