Nestled in the scenic hills of Jammu and Kashmir, the shrine of Vaishno Devi is one of the holiest places in India, drawing millions of devotees every year. The temple is home to a goddess who is said to meditate deep inside a cave, waiting for Lord Vishnu to return in his Kalki avatar. Vaishno Devi or Vaishnavi, as she was originally called, was created by the goddesses Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati to destroy the asuras who were wreaking havoc on earth. Endued with the combined strength of the three goddesses, Vaishnavi easily defeated the asuras and restored peace on earth.
This Amar Chitra Katha follows the journey of Vaishnavi on earth which culminates in her becoming the revered goddess, Vaishno Devi.
