DioDict English-Vietnamese Dictionary • Based on the English dictionary by Lac Viet, the most popular maker of electronic dictionaries in Vietnam • Contains over 400,000 references and translations • Ideal for travellers as well as serious learners of English and Vietnamese • No internet connection needed.
Lac Viet is the most popular maker of electronic dictionaries in Vietnam with a market share of over 60%. Its dedicated team of lexicographers, translators and linguistics makes use of a vast array of language data to compile up-to-date dictionaries with a wealth of examples and grammatical information. The word definitions are written specifically to enable language users to know how and when to best use a particular word.
* How to switch languages of the Dictionary
1. Setting > General > Keyboard > Add New Keyboard (French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Vietnamese, English)
2. Open DioDict > tab and hold globe icon on your keyboard > select languages
Dictionary features include:
• two way Vietnamese-English dictionary with approximately 400,000 references and translations.
• a vast number of example sentences, idioms and set phrases in both Vietnamese and English.
• translations of many English phrasal verbs as well as compounds in both languages.
• up-to-date vocabulary ranging from literary to techincal language and slang.
• rich grammatical information including:
- part of speech of all headwords, e.g. noun, adjective, verb
- irregular English verbs and nouns forms, e.g. buy --> bought, seek --> bought, ox --> oxen
• geographic differences between American and British English.
• all English headwords are annotated with their pronunciation in the IPA phonetic alphabet.
--Search Features--
• wildcard search: enter “?” or “*” in place of a letter when you are unsure of the spelling (e.g., “man*ver” retrieves the word “maneuver”).
• browse through the dictionary alphabetically or flip from one entry to the next with a flick of a finger.
• links to Google so that you can search for more information on a particular word.
--Vocab Revision--
• history menu lists all your recent word searches.
• save words and expressions to any number of flashcard folders.
• mark words in your flashcard folder which you still need to memorize.
** In order to conform to iOS guidelines, we have had to raise the lowest compatible iOS version to 9.0 **

Những tính năng từ điển bao gồm:
• từ điển Việt-Anh hai chiều với khoảng 400.000 mục tra cứu và chuyển ngữ.
• một lượng lớn các câu ví dụ, thành ngữ và các cụm từ bằng cả tiếng Việt lẫn Anh.
• chuyển ngữ nhiều cụm động từ tiếng Anh cũng như nhiều từ ghép bằng cả hai thứ tiếng.
• kho từ vựng cập nhật từ ngôn ngữ văn chương đến kỹ thuật và lóng.
• thông tin văn phạm phong phú bao gồm:
- một phần bài nói với tất cả các từ đầu mục, ví dụ danh từ, tính từ, động từ
- những hình thái bất quy tắc của động từ và danh từ tiếng Anh, ví dụ buy --> bought, seek --> bought, ox --> oxen
• những khác biệt về địa lý giữa tiếng Anh của Mỹ và của Anh.
• tất cả các từ tiếng Anh đầu mục đều được chú giải bằng cách phát âm theo bảng phát âm quốc tế IPA.
