What is the National Kidney Foundation?
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF), a major voluntary nonprofit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract disease, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.
NKF’s Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI)® has developed and disseminated 12 clinical practice guidelines for the care of people at all stages of CKD. The NKF also manages an international organization, KDIGO, which is dedicated to improving outcomes for CKD patients worldwide. Thousands of health care professionals join the NKF as members and attend the annual NKF Spring Clinical Meetings. The NKF also publishes four respected, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
