Have you ever been in a situation where you want to perform a draft and quick feeder sizing calculation? may be in a meeting with a client or in a construction site? FeederSizer to the rescue!
FeederSizer is capable of sizing power and motor feeders based on:
- Voltage drop for power feeders (for motor feeders both starting voltage drop and running voltage drop are required).
- Power factor (for motor feeders both starting power factor and running power factor drop are required).
- Load/Motor power.
- Feeder length.
- Load-rotor current LRC (for motor feeder only).
FeederSizer is also capable of calculating the optimum size of grounding conductor based on:
- Fault current in kA.
- Fault X/R ratio.
- Fault duration in seconds.
- Growth factor Cp.
FeederSizer allows you to change the voltage drop, power factor, X/R ratio, fault duration and other different parameters using a slider giving you an instant and fast result of feeder size. You can see your options as you drag the slider of voltage drop for example.
Power feeder and motor feeder calculations are based on British Standard BS 5467 and IEC 60502. Grounding conductor calculation is based on IEEE 80-2000 Guide for Safety in AC Substation Grounding. Calculations are sophisticated and ensured to get the best acceptable results. Future versions are considered to get the most accurate results according to common practice and standards.
Version 1.3 supports:
- Single core and three cores cables.
- Multiple circuits support (parallel feeders).
- Saved List (Saving calculation results for later review or sending by mail).
- Different units for load (Ampere, kW or eHP).
- Voltage level of 120 V and 220 V (for single phase calculation) and 380 and 690 V (for three phase calculation).
- Aluminum and copper for conductor material (power and motor feeder).
- Up to 10 different conductor material for grounding conductor calculation.
- Armored and unarmored cables.
- Variant air and ground ambient temperature starting by 25 C up to 55 C.
- Different installation method (air, duct and ground).
- Soil thermal resistivity rating factor for power and motor feeders.
- Power and motor feeder sizes are given in mm2.
- Grounding conductor size is given in kcmil or mm2.
- Different frequency (50 or 60 Hz) for grounding conductor only.
Although a lot of effort has been exerted in developing FeederSizer, we recommend using FeederSizer only for quick draft calculation. Professional software should be considered for more accurate calculation.
