Teoría de los Sentimientos Morales (FCE)

Aparecida en 1759 y publicada por el FCE en 1979, ésta es la primera obra publicada por el filósofo y economista escocés Adam Smith y la que le dio fama entre los círculos ilustrados europeos. Es una brillante aportación a la polémica acerca del origen de los juicios morales y es sin duda la obra más trabajada y reelaborada de su autor. Parte de la afirmación de que los juicios morales no son producto de la razón, lo que no impide que su funcionamiento pueda ser comprendidos por ella. La obra pretende explicar la moral no como algo eterno o natural que preceda a la sociedad, sino como algo construido en la interacción humana y dependiente de las circunstancias sociales.

Appeared in 1759 and published by the FCE in 1979, this is the first work published by the Scottish philosopher and economist Adam Smith and that made his reputation among the European intelligentsia circles. It is a brilliant contribution to the debate about the origin of moral judgments and is undoubtedly the greatest work worked and reworked by the author. Part of the claim that moral judgments are not the product of reason, which does not prevent its operation can be understood by it. The book aims to explain the moral nature as something eternal or preceding the society, but as something built on human interaction and dependent on social conditions.
