Investigador y formador de investigadores, fundador de varias instituciones -entre las que destaca el Centro de Estudios Educativos-, escritor infatigable, crítico independiente de la política educativa y a la vez asesor de varios secretarios de Educación, Pablo Latapí destaca en este libro la importancia de la investigación educativa y cómo puede y debe ser ésta un instrumento para la toma de decisiones en la Secretaría de Educación Pública.
Después de repasar las relaciones entre la Iglesia católica y el Estado mexicano a lo largo del siglo XX, con especial hincapié en la Cristiada y la persecución religiosa, Latapí aborda algunos antecedentes personales -entre ellos sus años en la Compañía de Jesús- para describir, más adelante, los momentos representativos de su relación con 14 secretarios de Educación. Quizá lo más interesante de este libro sea el tono personal que subyace en el texto; precisamente la experiencia detrás de lo escrito es una de las cualidades que hacen de Andante con brío un documento único en la historia de la educación del México del siglo XX.
Research investigator and trainer, founder of several institutions, among which the Centre for Educational Studies, "indefatigable writer, independent critic of education policy at the same time advised several secretaries of Education, Paul Latapí in this book highlights the importance of educational research and how it can and should be a tool for decision making in the Secretariat of Public Education.
After reviewing the relations between the Catholic Church and the Mexican state during the twentieth century, with special emphasis on Cristiada and religious persecution, Latapí deals with some personal history-including his years in the Society of Jesus to describe, later, the representative moments of his relationship with 14 secretaries of Education. Perhaps most interesting about this book is the personal tone that underlies the text, just the experience behind the writing is one of the qualities that make Andante con brio a single document in the history of education in the twentieth century Mexico.
