Over the past century, this bow-tie shaped intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue has gone from being an unassuming, quiet neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan to being the universally recognizable Crossroads of the World. With all of the world famous landmarks in New York City, Times Square may very well be the most famous, due in large part to its myriad appearances in movies and television. Of course, being an area jam-packed with a changing array of intensely bright, flashing advertising day and night makes it a memorable location for movies as well as for visits to New York City.
This area has changed a lot since becoming Times Square in 1904, and these are some of the movies and television shows which have documented and celebrated different moments in time throughout the history of Times Square, the Theater District, and the surrounding area.
*Note: Continued use of GPS in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The app and GPS remain active in the background as you walk from place to place, so that you can listen to each location conveniently as you travel, without removing the phone from your pocket or pressing buttons, even when your phone goes to sleep!
