Help! Collagenases are attacking!
The green cancer cells permanently produce red collagenases, which want to destroy the surrounding collagen fibers.
Once the collagenases have done that, the cancer cells spread freely.

Thus, the collagen strand loses its stability, breaks up and the whole collagen net becomes holey. And then even the much larger cancer cells can slip through as through a perforated fence. This is exactly what we want to avoid!
