HIPS(QR)

HIPS integrates text encryption, quick-response (QR) code, and social networking to create a novel communication tool. HIPS is primarily developed to enable message sharing and broadcasting in a user-directed privacy setting. Owing to its multi-layer security design, HIPS also serves as an excellent encryption tool for the protection of personal data, passwords, or other vital text-based information.

HIPS combines several technologies and a sophisticated infrastructure design to accomplish a high level of ease-of-use, security, and versatility. The encrypted text is rendered more portable in a QR code format. Uploading to or downloading from Facebook, Twitter, or email is quick and easy. Each HIPS QR code displays a label panel for identification. The QR code format means that HIPS QR codes can be filed and organized effortlessly, just like any other photos, in iPhoto. The Library interface is linked to the iPhoto Library and the Camera Roll for easy browsing. The Keychain interface assists encryption key management and editing. During decryption, the message code automatically searches for the correct key from the Keychain and retrieve its password, saving you the effort to keep track of your passwords. Each HIPS encryption key has an expiry date setting for controlling how long a message remains serviceable by its key. Unlike many text encryption apps in which the password is the sole security measure, encryption and decryption in HIPS require both a password and an active key, thus limiting the chance of password mishandling or breaching.

HIPS is designed to be used as a valuable social networking tool. You can use it confidently to broadcast messages in the public domains with a secure layer of privacy. By specifically distributing the encryption keys, you can target message postings on Facebook or Twitter at the intended ‘audiences’ . No more worrying about unnecessarily exposing your messages to the irrelevant parties. The more you use HIPS, the less likely you would experience disastrous information leaks. The practice of encrypted postings would also extend protection to your communicating partners because of the shielded contents. Naturally, even greater protection can be attained when your counterparts also communicate with you using HIPS.
