This app introduces key concepts in disability work such as policies and procedures, different types of disabilities and practical tips on how to assist clients with daily tasks.
This app helps people gain some of the skills and knowledge necessary to work safely and effectively in the disability industry with video clips and images from actual workplaces and interactive quizzes to test knowledge. Video demonstrations provide step-by-step procedures about how to give a bed-bath, help clients dress and undress, wash their hair, eat, drink and move around, and provide guidance on important manual handling techniques. The app also contains links to support material such as procedure and equipment summary sheets.
The app is a valuable reference tool that supports delivery of the CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability core units of competency contained in the CHC08 Community Services Training Package. It is also relevant to workers in the aged care and home and community care industry sectors. Content has been developed specifically to meet the needs of people with English language, literacy and numeracy issues.
Funding for the app was generously provided by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education through the Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) Program. Aspire is a not-for-profit organisation that develops and publishes market-leading resources for vocational education and training.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that this app contains images of people who may now be deceased.
