Welcome to SHK’s Fall “Fashion Talks” issue. In this edition, we’ve delved into the concept behind style and commination. Cover girl Atlanta De Cadent, photographed by the iconic Mick Rock, speaks up about making it by her own terms in New York City. The designers behind Uniforms for the Dedicated explore dressing as identity and Obesity + Speed’s Lyz Olko brings up the conversation between fashion and music, while Eat Dust founders spread the universal word of quality denim. Photographer Kelsey Bennett spends a day with the band SKATERS, up-and-coming Indie act Weekend hangs out at Williamsburg waterfront and Indie pop duo Blouse preps for the release of the second album. For this issue of SHK, our KNOWN section features an op-ed on new media communication within the industry, exclusive illustrations, a documentary editorial marking the end of summer, plus an examination on the Flight Attendant’s uniform throughout history. With fashion editorials from photographer’s James Brodibb, Jeremy Williams, Katie McCurdy, Andrew Kuykendall and more, this issue of SHK not only speaks up about today’s fashions, but it talks back.
