CalRadiance is the first app in the App Store for calculating radiometric quantities such as total radiance, radiance over a spectral band or spectral radiance of a blackbody.
The application looks like a calculator easy to use.
Radiance calculations are made from the original formula of Planck's law (without approximation) describing the distribution of electromagnetic radiation emitted by a blackbody, at a definite temperature.
The radiometric quantities calculated from the user parameters (blackbody temperature, and wavelength) are:
- Radiance (total integral of the spectral radiance on the whole spectrum),
- Radiance integrated over a spectral band,
- Spectral radiance,
- Wavelength of maximum spectral radiance according to the Wien's displacement law.
The first three quantities can be expressed in energy unit or in photon unit.
In addition, the derivative calculation with respect to temperature is also available.
