What is GL?
GL (glycaemic load) might make you think of GI (glycaemic index), and the two are related - but there are major differences:
The glycemic index (GI) indicates how rapidly a carbohydrate is digested and released as glucose (sugar) into the blood.
Glycemic load takes this one step further by considering the energy 'load' in the food - taking into account the amount of carbohydrate present.
