The tour is itself a story, the recounting mixed with quotations, the ancient music alternating with suggestive sound effects as images of the highest possible resolution are accompanied by virtual reconstructions and historical ambiance. All conspires to concoct a fluid narrative, pleasant and smoothly flowing. The first video to be produced concentrates on the Salone dei Cinquecento, the heart of the palace, depicting its various phases of construction, later interventions, and its protagonists. One can imagine Savonarola inciting those responsible to build the austere “Sala del Maggior Consiglio”. One will have the illusion of watching Leonardo and Michelangelo at work. One can breathe in the greatness of the “political manifesto” of Duke Cosimo de’ Medici translated into an extravagant program of decoration. One will have the sensation of taking part directly in the Grand-duke’s entertainment and celebrations. Everything will come alive again before the eyes of the visitor, ready to bear fitness to its own history.
