SMPZ

The South Madison Promise Zone’s mission is to transform South Madison into a community of opportunity with strong systems of family and community support for all children to achieve. The primary objectives will be to engage the residents and a myriad of stakeholders in developing a neighborhood vision and creating a comprehensive plan to realize that vision. Our aim is to design a holistic place-based system of support for children and families that ensure all children realize their dreams and aspirations.

Key project deliverables during this our 2012 planning year will include:
a community assessment with segmentation analysis
survey of neighborhood assets
community engagement activities
SMPZ will leverage community services and neighborhood assets to develop a holistic response to community needs that involve residents working with service providers towards the creation of a comprehensive Promise Zone Implementation Plan that addresses the key needs and opportunities outlined by the residents.

This approach differs from past efforts in that it seeks and emphasizes the input, advice and ideas of those living and working in the neighborhoods as the basis for taking action. SMPZ will mobilize institutions and residents to partner in the creation of an Implantation Plan to transform South Madison into a community of opportunity with strong systems of family and community support for all children to achieve.
