Turbine

Turbine brings a new focus to email - converting fluid flow to useful work.

Email doesn't work for my workflow (or is it the other way around?) Mark as Unread doesn't cut it, starring gets crowded and folders get complicated. In my race to INBOX ZERO, a lot of messages would slip through the cracks. I wanted something better and simpler.

Turbine provides a simple, gestural interface for creating a quick list of messages that need my attention or action - even if they are not immediate needs. I can quickly set a priority on a given message and then mark the message as done when I've taken care of it.

I can view a list of my prioritized messages in what we're calling the FLOW - let's stick with this Turbine metaphor, after all. FLOW ZERO is my new INBOX ZERO.


Here are just a handful of the features Turbine has to offer:

· Add up to 5 email accounts - Gmail and IMAP are supported!

· Set a priority on a message by simply swiping on the message row - the further you swipe, the higher the priority. Swipe again to mark a message as done.

· Portrait & Landscape orientations supported - read in portrait, write in landscape… do what you like, Turbine is ready.

· Compose, Reply, Forward, Save a Draft… all the email writing functionality you know and love and hate are right here in Turbine.

· Priorities sync with iCloud - More to come on this soon...


Mini FAQ:

Q. Does Turbine support folders?
A. Not in version 1.0 - the only folders Turbine supports for now are the INBOX and SENT folders, along with a local DRAFTS folder.

Q. Does Turbine sync every message in my email account?
A. No. Some email accounts can be extremely full, and you'd be waiting for hours for Turbine to fully sync. For now, Turbine will sync your most recent 200 messages, and every message going forward.

Q. Are my email credentials secure?
A. Yes, your information is secure. Turbine does not send your email credentials to one of those clouds - everything you enter stays secure and right on your device.

Q. Does Turbine use Push Notifications?
A. Unfortunately not yet. A trade off to not sending your credentials to the cloud is not being able to check your email on your behalf - which means no push notifications for now. But rest assured, Turbine checks for new messages frequently while open.

Q. Turbine has made me so happy, how can I ever thank you?

Roadmap:

Turbine is far from done. Look for the iPad version to gain folder support, address book integration, and better attachment handling in the near future. Look for Turbine to expand to the iPhone and Mac sometime after that.
