This App is packed full of information about coffee, coffee making and coffee drinking. Above all it is designed to be a handy guide to making really good coffee and is free of all advertisements.
The core of the Coffee Excellence App is built around the Barista training course material used in 918 Coffee Co.’s training courses. It provides all the information and instruction needed to teach you how to make a variety of perfect coffees and also includes descriptions of over 30 single origin coffees from all over the world.
Sections include:
Barista:
This is the training part of the app and covers all aspects of preparing really good coffee.
Barista Drinks:
This section explains how to make 11 different coffee drinks including Cappuccino, Latte and Macchiato. There are lots of photographs throughout the App and the ‘Gallery’ provides examples of Cappuccino Art to give you ideas to copy.
Milk:
A Cappuccino or Latte can be made or ruined by the milk, so this App explains the difference between Frothing and Steaming and how to achieve the best results for the particular coffee that you wish to make. The following points are covered in detail:
What temperature should the milk be at?
How deep should the steam wand be placed?
What you should do before pouring the milk.
Going out:
A handy inclusion in this app is a calculator to split the bill (including tip) when meeting up with friends at your favourite coffee shop or restaurant.
If you want to try other speciality coffee preparations the Barista training section tells you exactly how they should be made so you will be very well informed about what you are ordering.
Running out of coffee/needing equipment:
This App also gives descriptions of some of 918’s range of coffees and provides a Buy facility so that you can order coffee or equipment direct from 918.
