TSUNAMI - one year later

15687 people lost their lifes, 2906 are still missing, 470 square kilometers of landscape were flooded and 130436 homes were completely destroyed. These are the tragic facts of the Töhoku-Earthquake, that occured in March 2011 off the Japanese coastline and set off a tsunami that reached up to 38 meter.

One year later, photographer Moritz Roeder travelled to the devastated and radioactivally contaminated provinces of northern Japan and came back with dramatic and very impressive images from the disaster zone.

This App combines more than 150 images of the catastrophic events, the demolition and reconstruction of Japan with further facts and infographics about the tsunami, its origins and the extent of destruction it caused.
