Browse the plays offered, find out more about each play, view videos, get information regarding on-site services such as getting here, parking, dining and bar services, special access, and of course, decide on performance dates. You can also select from a wide selection of overnight accommodations, dining options, and things to do – aside from great theatre evidently! The Shaw Festival is “one of the best theatrical festivals in the world” (The Montreal Gazette). Inspired by the wit and passion of Bernard Shaw, the Shaw Festival is a contemporary theatre that features a smart, provocative, potent and diverse mix of plays from the past and present, performed by our talented Acting Ensemble. The result is theatre that is entertaining, challenging, surprising and above all else … unique.
Each year, The Shaw presents 10-12 plays performed in four theatres from April – October for audiences of more than 250,000. Situated in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, the Shaw Festival has grown to become a major Canadian cultural icon, a gem in this country’s rich cultural heritage. These plays are lovingly and artfully brought to the stage each year by a talented team of Canadian actors, directors, and designers, showcasing the incredible tapestry of talent that this country contributes to the world.
Set on the edges of the Niagara River and home to award-winning wineries, Fort George, and the site of the War of 1812, Niagara-on-the-Lake is located about 20 minutes from the thunder of Niagara Falls down the scenic Niagara Parkway via the historic village of Queenston. The Shaw and Niagara-on-the-Lake – the ideal getaway destination to stimulate the mind and relax the soul.
