Viewpoints is a mobile application based on the Viewpoint of Millions series by an American artist David Datuna which explores the meaning and roots of a complex cultural identity and conveys his iconography via portraits of world leaders, pop-culture and fashion icons as well as national symbols.
Datuna's artwork is a political, cultural and commercial commentary on our current collective consciousness. Lying beneath the undulating surface of interwoven eyewear fused together to create a prismatic surface metaphoric of a collective perspective, is a defragmented foundation layer of collaged images and texts.
The Viewpoints App aims to create of a universally new and unique social language. Each individual views everything around us subjectively. Each of us has our own criteria for good and bad, beautiful and ugly, which for the most part, are impossible to describe even by words. The application gives the ability to express our individual Viewpoints and share with each other the world the way we see it in ourselves.
For those less philosophically inclined, this is a way to imitate great and recognized art and give a whole new meaning to the pictures you are taking. The application lets you:
- Create a Viewpoint by taking a new picture or selecting one from your phone’s library
- Crop it
- Adjust image saturation
- Apply various styles and colors of eyewear
- Adjust the size, magnification and 3D indentation of the eyewear
- Share your viewpoint with the world via your favorite social networks (don’t forget to use the hashtag #VPOM when sharing!)
