Blaufuss Sound Builder is the most powerful heart sounds and murmurs app ever designed for a mobile device. Built from the ground up for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, this app revolutionizes self-study and bedside teaching of cardiac examination — using recordings from actual patients, and allowing you to create hundreds to thousands of unique combinations of sounds and murmurs on the fly.
The patients were recorded by an experienced cardiologist, with diagnoses confirmed by cardiac catheterization or open heart surgery. The software was designed by Blaufuss Multimedia, creators of the first CD-ROM on heart sounds and murmurs in 1994, a world-wide best seller in three language editions, as well as the Cardiac Examination multimedia suite, and the blaufuss.org website, with customers in over 40 countries.
Learning or teaching cardiac auscultation at the bedside has never been easier:
You can compare one murmur with another, teaching your ears to hear the difference in timing and character. Sounds that are easily confused (split second sound vs. opening snap) can be turned on and off for quick comparison. Even better, you can selectively add and remove one sound element at a time in the midst of several sounds and murmurs to hone your detection skills.
You also get a built-in encyclopedia:
To learn more about a sound or murmur, there are links to comprehensive material on definitions of medical terminology, hemodynamics, anatomy, listening areas, timing, mnemonics, and more (180 pages in all).
