Visual Impact

Just like downloading songs in iTunes, Visual Impact lets you download multimedia task instructions for nearly any activity!

PLEASE NOTE: To access the "Cloud" and "Info" buttons on the application's main screen, you must tap and HOLD for at least 5 seconds. This is by design, to prevent accidental tapping of these buttons.

Visual Impact provides easy step-by-step multimedia instructions for use by anyone needing a simple support to perform daily tasks of all kinds. Make a grilled cheese sandwich by yourself, learn important personal skills for applying for a job, or how to take your own blood pressure at home! The online library of Visual Impact task instructions will continue to grow to provide an ever increasing world of possibilities for self-directed learning.

Now you can also Upgrade to Visual Impact Pro to create your own custom tasks! You can create tasks for any activity, add pictures from your iPad photo library or take new photos as you build the task. You can also record your own verbal instructions to go along with each step. Finally, with Pro you can also edit any tasks that you have downloaded from the Learning Library to personalize the learning activities with new pictures, new steps, and new audio instructions.

Visual Impact provides an evidence-based, self-paced and self-directed learning tool for acquiring and reinforcing skills necessary for achieving independence across life activity domains, including education, employment, independent living, recreation and transition. After downloading Visual Impact, press and hold the Cloud button to access the online Leaning Library and select from a growing library of learning topics designed specifically for use by individuals with special needs. A sampling of free content is available online to illustrate some of the ways Visual Impact can be used to facilitate self-directed learning and independent task support. Be sure to check the Cloud frequently for new learning activities to download for use with Visual Impact.

Visual Impact utilizes the AbleLink Instructional Media Standard (AIMS), AbleLink's award-winning step-by-step multimedia training system which applies universal design principles to provide accessible multimodal instruction using visual and auditory media. Cognitively accessible training instructions will be available on a wide variety of topics for use with Visual Impact. AbleLink Technologies is a leader in developing practical tools for daily living for persons with intellectual/developmental disability, short-term memory loss, and age-related cognition issues. Anyone who needs support for learning and maintaining skills necessary for daily living can benefit from Visual Impact's ease of use.

After learning items are downloaded from the Cloud (or created from Visual Impact Pro), they are available on the Visual Impact home screen for immediate use. Each task contains visual and auditory prompts with an easy to navigate interface for following the step-by-step instructions in a self-directed manner. You can chose which tasks to show and which ones to hide on the Visual Impact display to customize your task library for different users who may be sharing the same device. Delete items when no longer needed to free up space in your local task library.

New Remote Notification Feature!
An option has been added to send an email or text message to one or more teachers or remote caregivers when the Visual Impact user begins a task and then also when the task is completed. Completion messages also calculate the total time it took for the user to complete the task and displays the result in hours, minutes and seconds. This feature is great for remote caregivers needing to know when important activities have been completed or for teachers wanting to monitor the progress of their students engaged in self-directed learning activities with Visual Impact. Simply turn on the option in Settings and enter a comma separated list of email addresses.

Added ability to restore all purchases.
From the Learning Library screen, simply tap on the "Restore Purchases" button and every in-app purchase you've made will be restored.
