Insulin Bolus Calculator is a medical mobile application that calculates an
estimated insulin bolus with active insulin to support your food intake or
to correct a high blood glucose (BG) level. It is a useful tool for patients
with diabetes mellitus.

Insulin Bolus Calculator is similar to "Bolus Wizard® Calculator" used in Medtronic Paradigm
insulin pump, "Bolus Advice Calculator" used in Accu-Chek Combo insulin pump, and
"Insulin Calculator" used in OmniPod, Animas, One Touch Ping and Dana Diabecare
insulin pumps.

In order to use Insulin Bolus Calculator, you will have to obtain the following information:

Carbohydrate counting (in grams or exchanges): you have to know which foods
contain carbohydrates and how to count these.

Your blood glucose: you have to to know your blood glucose (BG). You can get this information from your blood glucose meter.

In addition to your blood glucose and/or your food entry, the Insulin Bolus Calculator uses different personal settings such as:

• carb units (grams or exchanges)
• meal factor (measured in carbohydrate grams/unit of insulin or insulin units/carb
exchanges)
• BG units (mmol/L or mg/dL)
• correction factor (insulin sensitivity)
• target blood glucose range
• active insulin time (hours) (insulin on board)

Features

User-friendly interface
You don't have to aim at a tiny input field and enter values with small virtual keyboard buttons. Large interface buttons make entering your blood glucose and carbohydrates values easy and convenient. Large contrasting numbers allow you to easily navigate through a set of values.

Different combinations
You can use various carbohydrates accounting systems and various blood glucose measurement systems and combine them as you like.

Data Storage
This software stores all the data that was entered earlier in it's internal memory including all the settings parameters. You can always look back and check your previous settings combinations for any given period of time.

Fine-tuning coefficients
You can specify the individual value of each factor (e.g. Meal Factor) and set a target blood glucose values for each hour for up to twenty four intervals a day. This will bring a great deal of flexibility to accommodate all the specifics of your diabetes treatment.

A full report about a calculated dose
You can get a full report on the calculation of the recommended insulin dose if necessary. These calculations are made based on coefficients you previously entered, as well as some other factors like the level of active insulin and many others.

Complete freedom
All calculated insulin doses are offered as recommendations. If a particular dose doesn't suit you, you can set a different value and active insulin will be calculated based on your data.

Active insulin (insulin on board)
Active insulin is a bolus insulin that has already been delivered to your body, but has not yet been used. "Insulin Bolus Calculator" automatically calculates the amount of active insulin present in your body at any given moment of time, which may help to prevent hypoglycemia that may be caused by an overdose of insulin in cases when bolus insulin is not taken into consideration.
