There are a total of eight topic areas covered by our range of educational apps in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Series 1 is all about the basic principles of MRI and this lecture (1a) is the first of this series.
Based on the World best-selling book MRI in Practice, these apps each contain FIVE resources to help you in your quest for MRI knowledge.
At the heart of each app is a short multimedia lecture packed with key learning points from the famous international course presented by authors Catherine Westbrook and John Talbot - but these apps give you more than just a video!
In addition, each app contains the written lecture notes with some all-new diagrams (not available elsewhere) allowing you to revise the course topics at your leisure.
Each app also contains a multiple choice interactive quiz, so you can test your knowledge before and after watching the lecture.
Finally there are two sections of links providing fast access to our books and live international courses.
The topics covered relate to the form and function of the static field (B0) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
This 32:41 minute presentation explains how the main magnetic field of the MRI scanner is generated in permanent and super-conducting systems and how this field is used to cause alignment and precession of the magnetic moments of MRI active nuclei.
The content is aimed at imaging students, radiographers, trainee radiologists, veterinary practitioners, technologists and anyone else with an interest in the field of MRI.
The presentations, featured in the MRI in Practice apps, are fully narrated by the authors, and feature plenty of animated graphics and computer generated imagery that help to bring difficult concepts to life in a way that cannot be achieved on a flat page or slide presentation. The app works brilliantly as a stand-alone learning aid, but is designed to mesh seamlessly with our other learning materials, the MRI in Practice textbook and the live course. There has been a comment made about the price of the apps. The price is fairly comparable to how much one would pay to buy a movie on DVD (pro rata per minute) and was decided upon having taken a public poll on what potential purchasers considered a fair price. This is a specialised market (unlike gaming for example) and we think that the price is fair. How much would you pay for a cup of coffee or a cocktail?
