Ever been told something that you’ve never forgotten? A great piece of advice, a joke, a declaration of love or the parting shot of an ex-lover?
Someone Once Told Me is a website which uses photography to capture such memorable moments from people around the world, who write down a phrase they were told in their past and pose, with that message, for a picture which is posted on the site.
Subjects also explain who told them those words, and why they proved unforgettable. Think of it as photography meets storytelling.
People often use paper and pen to share their stories with the world – but now you can capture the things you were once told, for the SOTM site, without the need for stationery or conventional camera, using just your phone and the SOTM app any time that inspiration strikes.
The app allows people to create digital SOTMs by allowing you to take a subject’s photograph, place a white space over their image and type their choice of phrase on it, whether it be serious or silly, profound or profane.
These images can then be submitted directly to the website, to be published after moderation. You can also use the app to post your SOTM picture on twitter and Facebook.
So whether you’re sat around with friends, out with a loved one or encountering a random person in a queue, if you’re told something that sticks in your head then get out your phone and use the SOTM app to share it with the world.
