An easy to use technological breakthrough for helping achieve personal health and fitness goals.
Wellington Allied Health, has spent the last few years looking for a better way to monitor their patient's progress. Like most practices we tried the standard time-consuming methods such as forms, progress reports and even emailing spreadsheets to clients. Interestingly, we found that clients were losing motivation and often were not filling out or returning these forms. As such we developed WellBeing, a simple to use iPhone Application that reminds users to utilize a daily journal to measure progress in the pursuit of their fitness goals. Journaling takes only seconds but provides incredibly useful graphical results. Anyone at any fitness level can easily use this app to track their progress and provide motivation for a successful outcome of physical fitness or rehabilitation goals.
For the health care provider, WellBeing is a breeze to administer and requires little input (if any) from the practitioner. Moreover, it allows for simple responses from the patient. The daily journal can be emailed or sent to Facebook for the practitioner to monitor and analyze. Patient progress can be easily assessed and a proper plan of action implemented. Therefore, this application is time and cost efficient as well as practical for both patient and provider.
The application will allow the user to monitor the following areas on a daily basis:
1. Pain and Soreness
2. Energy Levels
3. Quality of Sleep
4. Motivation
5. Impact onOthers
6. Willingness to Change
7. Productivity
8. Customisable Fields to suit your needs, such as range of motion or flexibility.
The application then stores the user responses and begins to chart the data over time. This is important for a few reasons:
1. It allows the user to "SEE" their progress. Healthcare practitioners can appreciate the impact this has in demonstrating pain trends.
2. It allows the user to recall and reflect on their treatment over large periods of time in a matter of seconds.
3. It allows the user to understand flare ups and how even though they may be having a flare up, their overall trend is improving
4. It allows the user to monitor their progress and give a sense of accountability.
