This App contains photographs of all Zhang Xiaotao’s artworks since 1998, including those that have been shown for many times on international exhibitions and those been collected by notable artistic organizations and collectors.

This App also contains reviews and interview articles from four world-famous critics and curators, in which Zhang has made a vivid depiction of his artistic experience as well as featured interpretation of his own artistic creation and concept.

This App presents photographs of Zhang in his sole exhibition, working in his studio as well as in life.

Zhang Xiaotao's Artworks Show:
- Skillfully combining the alluring with the abject, Zhang’s paintings are formally ambitious—large in scale (often measured in meters), they enlist techniques from both Western and Chinese traditions. While he tends to reflect on his immediate surroundings, Zhang’s approach is usually allegorical rather than strictly narrative.
- Zhang’s paintings, videos, and installations focus on psychologically charged symbols—feasting ants, moldering strawberries—that suggest and elicit powerful, conflicting affective states: longing and disappointment, desire and disgust.
- The titles of the works by Zhang Xiaotao are “Joyful Time”, “The place of Desire”, “Heaven”. “Image of Desire”, “Beautiful and Dissipated”, “Decay Landscapes” (2004), they all contain the topics and the emotions of the artists and the ones provoked to the viewer: joy, paradise, desire, beauty, decadence, landscape, celestial love, happiness, dream, hallucination, dissipation.
