GeneWallet is a gene centric, fast, off-line search database. It is a portable version of the human genome, requiring no internet connection to quickly search for genes on their names or synonyms. In addition you can search for genes linked to diseases, chemical compounds, gene ontology or pathways .
Imagine being on a train, bus, airplane, in the class room or at a keynote without a decent network connection. You are seeking information about a gene or looking into genes of a specific pathway, ontology or disease. Maybe you want to investigate who published what about a certain gene. Genewallet does just that and even with a decent internet connection, it's still a lot faster (and cheaper) than remotely looking it up.
GeneWallet is written for geneticists, biologists, medical doctors, teachers and students. It contains information about gene function, structure, ontology, pathways and linkage with more than 600000 scientific publications. GeneWallet uses information from Uniprot/SwissProt, Ensembl, NCBI(NLM) and PubMed/Medline.
The Lite version contains no ontology,pathways, diseases, compounds and no literature evidence.
