Quanto vale il debito pubblico italiano? Ora è possibile scoprirlo grazie all’ “orologio del debito” dell’Istituto Bruno Leoni, regolarmente aggiornato sulla base dei rapporti mensili della Banca d’Italia.

Il contatore modifica, ogni 3 secondi, la stima dello stock complessivo dei titoli di Stato, giungendo a mostrare le 13 cifre (valore riferito al 31 luglio 2010) del nostro debito, pari a circa il 120 per cento del prodotto interno lordo. La mostruosità del debito, equivalente a circa 30.724 euro per ogni italiano, inclusi neonati e ultracentenari, diventa così facilmente accessibile a tutti.

How large is the Italian public debt? Today it is possible to visualize its staggering amount thanks to the “debt clock” created by Istituto Bruno Leoni, timely updated on the basis of the monthly reports issued by the Bank of Italy.

The counter clicks at 3-seconds intervals, displaying the estimate of the total amount of outstanding government bonds, namely the government debt, a 13-digit number that amounts to some 120 per cent of the country’s GDP. This mind-boggling sum, which amounts to about 30,724 euros for each Italian—newborns and centenarians alike—can thus be readily accessible to all unfortunate Italian citizens.
