The Asahi Weekly Select (AWS) app offers a good way to improve your English comprehension through bilingual text study of selected articles from Asahi Weekly, a bilingual weekly magazine published by The Asahi Shimbun. 
The package covers movies, travel and English-language study using editorials and the Vox Populi, Vox Dei column of the vernacular Asahi Shimbun.
The movie section previews a new film each week, together with highlights from the script and the film's trailer.
The travel section includes a full-color photo slide show that takes the reader to interesting destinations around the world each week.
The English study section alternately features an Asahi Shimbun editorial or a Vox Populi, Vox Dei column, offering questions related to the text and providing detailed explanations and useful tips to aid in understanding. This section is of use to those studying for university entrance exams and anyone else looking to improve their English ability.
AWS is published every Wednesday, and costs 85 yen per issue.
