No rules vary more as you travel across the USA than the rules around drinking.
What you can buy, when you can buy it, where, and how much you are taxed varies dramatically from state to state. And if you drink irresponsibly - so do the rules around DUI.
Some states are MUCH stricter than others. Don't be caught off guard trying to buy a beer on Sunday in Utah, vodka in a grocery store in Florida, or wine at a convenience store in Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, in Texas - you can't take your kids into a liquor store, but you can buy them a six-pack...
