Top Doc is a medical quiz app developed by Elsevier and Legacy Interactive and authored by Drs. James Studdiford and Amber Tully from Thomas Jefferson Medical College, who also authored the popular Images for the Wards text. The fill-in-the-blank style question-and-answer game is aimed at medical students, residents and junior faculty who want to improve their visual diagnosis skills and prepare for real cases, OSCEs, or board examinations. Players must make the correct diagnosis as quickly as possible by viewing clinical photographs depicting a physical sign or symptom. Players must navigate through multiple levels of difficulty and through all body regions to become the Top Doc. At the conclusion of each fast-paced game, players are given a final grade evaluation based on their performance, which they can automatically post to their Facebook account. A Review mode is also available for players who would like to study the content in a non-competitive flashcard-like format. With more than 600 questions at multiple difficulty levels (as well as both a Novice and Expert game mode), the app is sure to provide many hours of educational enjoyment.

“Top Doc was built upon a foundation of providing challenging, real-world questions illustrated by high quality medical images,” said Amber Tully, M.D., Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and the product’s co-author. “With this platform, users are able to experience and react to realistic patient encounters that require quick, concise clinical responses.”
