The Public Art Fund has partnered with Tours d’Art to create this companion app to take their exhibits to a whole new level. We at Tours d’Art love art and architecture, and we design apps for people like us who want instant access to the who, what, where, when, and how of the art world.
Rob Pruitt’s “The Andy Monument” / March 2011 – May 2012
Inspired by Warhol’s art and life, Rob Pruitt (b. 1964, Washington DC) created “The Andy Monument” as a tribute to the late artist. It stands on the street corner, just as Warhol did when he signed and gave away copies of ‘Interview’ magazine. Pruitt’s sculpture adapts and transforms the familiar tradition of classical statuary.
Features:
• Read a detailed description of the exhibition
• Hear curator Nicholas Baume discuss the project
• View images of the work
• Read a biography of Rob Pruitt and view past works
• Hear the artist speak about “The Andy Monument” (video)
• Read a biography of Andy Warhol
• View additional photos of Andy Warhol
• View an interactive map of “Andy’s New York” – locations that relate to Andy Warhol’s career and life
• View notable ‘Andy’ quotes and a list of select media related to Andy Warhol
• Get directions to the exhibition by walking, driving, or public transportation from your current location or any other location
Michael Sailstorfer’s “Tornado” / September 2011 – February 2012
This arresting sculpture is a powerful response to the attributes of the site, for which it was conceived, and to the epic scale of New York City. Like a tornado, which is violently powerful but also literally made of air, Sailstorfer's towering work provides a visceral experience of sculptural form and materials in tension, massive but also vulnerable.
Features:
• Read a detailed description of the exhibition
• View images and information about the works on view
• Read a biography of Michael Sailstorfer and view past works
• Get directions to the exhibition by walking, driving, or public transportation from your current location or any other location
Also view similarly detailed project pages for decommissioned exhibitions, including full descriptions, artist biographies, images, maps, and multimedia content.
Past Projects Included:
• Statuesque / June – December 2010
• Ryan Gander: The Happy Prince / September 2010 – February 2011
• Eva Rothschild’s “Empire” / March – August 2011
• Sol LeWitt: Structures, 1965 – 2006 / May – December 2011
