The term "zmanim" refers to the times that Jewish law associates with certain practices such as prayer times, starting and ending Shabbat, etc. Zmanim are by and large associated not with absolute times such as 9:00AM, but with "shaot zmaniot" or "seasonal times", which vary with the time of year and geographical location.
ZmanimClock is the first clock to run on shaot zmaniot. Sunrise is fixed by convention at 6:00 sAM (seasonal AM), and sunset is fixed at 6:00 sPM. The 12 clock hours between those times can take more or less than 12 actual hours, depending on season and location. But on this clock, the Jewish times are simple as can be: Shabbat always starts at 6:00 sPM, the afikoman must be finished on Pesach by 12:00 sAM, and so on.
