Originally designed for judo, Black Belt Journey can be used with any martial art to log and track your progression. Points for judo can be achieved through competitions, clinics and service points based on the promotional standards of the United States Judo Association. If you are in a martial art that does not promote based on points, you can choose not to show the points in the settings, but still log and manage your competitions, clinics and service.
Tournament name, date and place can be entered in the competition area, as well as level of tournament, wins or losses, and personal notes. Future updates will also allow for photos to be added to the area. Based on the entries of the above, your points are automatically added.
Clinic date, and place can also be added, with a note section, and photos added in future updates.
Service points can be added by name with a note section.
Once you start your journey, you can track your progression through reports. Reports can be searched by a date range, or since your last promotion. Once you run your report, you can then email your complete log, including tournaments, wins, losses, clinics and service log to your coach, sensei, or organization for promotion.
Black Belt Journey even has a round timer built in with up to 10 round option, up to 10 minute per round option, and a rest time. And yes, you can roll to your music during the timer by starting your iPod before opening the app!
