The Anza Trail 2010 Calendar & Clock
Why look at basic flip clock when you can have the time along with wonderful historic paintings of the Anza Trail? Swipe to view months, or rotate to see the entire year.
If you love art and history, then this is a "must have" for your iPhone or iTouch. It is a 2010 calendar & clock with illustrations of the 1775 Anza expedition. This app features over 13 illustrations by renowned artist & illustrator Bill Singleton. Bill has been working as a professional artist for over 30 years, and has done illustration work for all the major publishers, signage along the Anza Trail, created illustrations for the National Parks Service, was Art Director and illustrator for the hugely successful Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, and recently painted the 50 foot mural at the Tucson Presidio.
The illustrations in this calendar cover the Anza expedition's northward journey through what is now southern Arizona, from Tubac to Casa Grande.
Juan Bautista de Anza was the first European to establish an overland route from Mexico to the Pacific coast of California. The Spanish had already established a series of presidios and missions along the California coast as far north as Monterey and were striving to colonize California before the Russians did. The Spanish crown had been seeking a land route for many years because it was far too expensive to ship a large group of colonizers by boat.
Anza actually chose the future site of San Francisco, and all before the American colonies on the eastern shore of North America formally declared their independence from England on July 4, 1776.
