This app is all about how to improve your eyesight using the famous Bates method.
Bates designed a series of eye exercises which, if practiced regularly, will improve or recover your eyesight ( as long as you have not already had laser surgery!) The co-author of this app discovered the Bates method after his eyesight began to decline in his forties.
“Eventually I was wearing glasses for everything, including watching the television. The optician told me that I would need stronger glasses each year but didn't advise me that there was an alternative, the Bates method. I was not happy with her diagnosis so after some research I found Bates and began to practice the exercises. I stopped using my glasses, which was difficult at first, as a great deal of my work involves using the computer. Within a short time there was a remarkable improvement in my eyesight. There was an initial ache deep in the eye sockets, then followed a few weeks of waking with what seemed like dry or crusty eyes, which I would attribute to muscles and other parts of the eye being used in a different way than they had for many years. I was very casual about the exercises, often forgetting which ones I had to practice. But the improvement has been dramatic and the reversal in the decline of my eyesight has been one of the most empowering and liberating experiences of my life.”
There are 8 principle exercises all of which are defined here. The intention is to simply summarize each one of these exercises so that a few weeks after starting the process instead of forgetting which exercises had been done, and forgetting some completely, they are all there on your phone easily accessible so that they can be practiced as is intended.
As Bates Method dates from early last century, there have naturally been developments in his technique. If you want to study Bates and more recent research there is a link to the best current book on the subject. The description of the exercises in the app is the same level of information as the writer of this app had about Bates and will be sufficient for the technique to be practised indefinitely and a significant improvement attained. Reference to the book is only suggested for those who wish to study this at depth.
