Like a 'magic songbook,' Jam Genius instantly generates chord charts designed to make improvisation easy and fun.
Jam Genius creates chord charts for you to play with your friends. There are no words or melodies, just simple chord progressions for guitarists, pianists, and whole bands.
Each time you press ‘Create chart,’ Jam Genius creates a unique chord progression, so your improvisations can have a ‘composed’ feel, while still leaving lots of room for creativity. No more meandering around: Jam Genius will keep your jamming on track, providing a platform for your creativity without getting in the way of it.
Jam Genius appeals to players of just about any musical style: bluegrass, folk, pop, rock, and beyond. It can be used by performing musicians, or as a practice tool for musicians of any level.
- Beginning guitarists can use it to practice reading and playing chord progressions and improvising over them.
- Two guitarists can trade off playing rhythm and lead.
- A guitarist can use it when jamming with a melody instrument, such as sax, flute or clarinet.
- Whole bands can use it to create the basis for 'spontaneous-but-structured' jams.
Each chord chart can be emailed as a PDF file or saved to the camera roll, so you can give everyone in the band a copy, and save your favorites to play again.
Please note that Jam Genius does not produce any sound by itself: it generates unique chord progressions for you and your friends to play and improvise over. There are over 100,000 possible charts, and there will be even more with future updates.
