RoadRunner

RoadRunner is your app that you will love when you are running outside. It tracks GPS positions to display your running speed, distance and to draw the track. It also computes how much calories you have burned. The calories are also displayed as "piece of cakes" (poc).

You can leave your iPhone in the pocket. The app tells you the elapsed time and current distance. So you do not get in risk to damage your iPhone. When using the app, the iPod player can also be used to enjoy nice music.

Before starting the app the first time, please check the settings by launching the iPhone Settings. There, please choose wether you want to use miles or kilometers, set your weight and set your time interval when you want to get speech updates.

I am also a enthusiastic runner and have used this app for several times. I like it really much, especially that it is talking to you to tell elapsed time and distance is very helpfull!


Usage:
Before the first start of the app, please check your settings once.
Start the app, it immediately starts the timer and you can start running. GPS positions are tracked, too.
The main view shows elapsed time, distance, burned calories. To view the track, just switch to the track tab page.
The track is always north heading. It shows the last 32.000 GPS positions. Should be enough for a long run. (I get about 1000 positions for 1h run outside).
Do not lock the iPhone. Then the app will continue, but it wouldn't talk to you anymore. In case of saving battery it makes sense to reduce the brightness of your display. This can be configured by the iPhone settings app.

Tip for using the app together with your iPod: Depending on the volume of your music, you might need to reduce it to hear the voice of RoadRunner.


This app is currently slim and very handy. As the developer I have chosen to do a customer oriented development. So I hope for your feedback and feature requests to create the next version of RoadRunner.
